   Savannah Colbert was best friends with Tristan Coeman until the fourth grade, when he stopped speaking to her because his parents forbid it.   None of the kids from the Clann are allowed to associate with Savannah and she doesn't know why.  It turns out that witches and vampires are mortal enemies and Savannah's family was cast out because her Mother married a vampire.  And more importantly, Savannah is half witch and half vampire.  She gets sick for the first time in her life because she is transitioning and she has to control her bloodlust.  Also, her Father makes her give up dancing (which she loves with a passion) as her abilities are superhuman now and she could expose their entire race.  Savannah also has the power to "gaze-daze" boys, making them obsessed with her.  She's fighting an attraction to Tristan because a romance between them could be the start of a war.  Will Savannah be able to be with Tristan despite the complications and how will her heritage play into it?  I really enjoyed this book.  It felt a little slow moving, but that was only because a lot of the book focused on Savannah and not the paranormal elements to her life - just her teenage problems.  I enjoyed that it alternated between Tristan and Savannah's points of view, giving more background to the Clann and Savannah's exile.  As much as I loved Tristan, I felt bad for Greg when Savannah gaze-dazed him, and they broke up because of obsession he couldn't control.  This entire book had an innocent quality that endeared it to me.  I will be reading the sequel, as I am interested in what happens.  I though it was pretty cool that Melissa Darnell included a playlist of songs in the back of the book for all the major events that happen.
